July 2008 Bridge-Logos Newsletter

Dear Friend:

We are living in exciting times. As C.S. Lewis wrote, “Aslan is on the move.” Aslan, like the Lion of Judah, represents our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who is moving in amazing power all over the world. We’re even receiving reports of personal visitations of Jesus to Muslims in the Middle East. The Holy Spirit is being poured out in various places, and the prophecy of Joel is being fulfilled: “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit” (Joel 2:28-29).

Praise God for giving us the Holy Spirit; through Him the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts. (See Romans 5:5.) Please be sure to get a copy of a brand-new Pure Gold Classic that we’ve published and will be presenting at the ICRS Convention later this month. This book is entitled The Holy Spirit: Who He Is and What He Does by Reuben Archer Torrey (ISBN: 978-0-88270-473-9; $14.99). This dynamic book includes an audio-excerpts CD and a very helpful study guide. Torrey walked with the Holy Spirit on a daily basis, and he knew Him as his Friend. This book will show you how to cultivate a friendship with the Holy Spirit.

Speaking of Aslan, we have another new release that you will want to have. It is entitled The Eternal Truths of Narnia by Julie Kloster (ISBN: 978-0-88270-616-0; $13.99). The book’s cover provides a glimpse of Aslan that commands attention. More importantly, the contents of this deeply spiritual book reveal the eternal truths that C.S. Lewis carefully wove into the seven books of The Chronicles of Narnia.

Congratulations, Dr. Cho!

This year Dr. David Yong-gi Cho, one of our best-selling authors, is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the beginning of his Christian ministry. He is the pastor of the world’s largest church—the Yoido Full Gospel Central Church in Seoul, South Korea. We are delighted to stand with Dr. Cho on this momentous occasion, and we have released two new titles by him, which we will be showing at the ICRS Convention in Orlando.

The two new titles by Dr. Cho are Dr. David Yonggi Cho: Ministering Hope for 50 Years (ISBN: 978-0-88270-480-7; $11.99) and 4th Dimensional Spirituality School (ISBN: 978-0-88270-482-1; $11.99). The first book is a partial autobiography by the famous pastor. It clearly shows how Dr. Cho learned how to depend totally upon the Holy Spirit. The second book is a workbook that will help those who love Dr. Cho’s works to more fully understand his teachings about the Fourth Dimension—a realm that is available to each of us on a daily basis if we will learn to obey the Lord and have faith in His promises.

May God richly bless Dr. Cho and the godly and prayerful members of his growing church community.

One of the reasons why the Yoido Full Gospel Central Church has experienced such phenomenal growth is due to prayer. Dr. Joshua Young-Gi Hong, a pastor who is associated with the church, has written a profoundly meaningful book on prayer, which we will be releasing this autumn. It is entitled Building a House of Prayer, and it gives the reader eighteen easy-to-follow prayer models for approaching God’s throne with faith and confidence. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-455-5; $13.99)

Without qualification, I can say that this book by Dr. Hong is one of the finest books on prayer I’ve ever read. I highly recommend it to you.

Author Media Appearances

In addition to the media appearances that some of our authors will participate in at the ICRS Convention, the following have been scheduled for this month:

His book is a beautifully illustrated, well-researched, and clearly presented hard-cover study of creation. Very interesting and thoroughly biblical.

Hers is a hard-cover book that shares Barbara’s experience through the harrowing world of Hollywood and how she beat the odds to emerge triumphant.

ICRS Travel Assistance Program

We are pleased to announce that two other publishers have joined with us in our ICRS Travel Assistance Program—Destiny Image Publishers and Whitaker House/Anchor Distributors. This has allowed us to provide assistance to eight bookstores who want to attend the ICRS Convention. For more information on this revolutionary program, please go to the ICRS Assist web site: ICRSAssist.com. We hope that other exhibitors will soon join us.

Other New Titles

In this newsletter I’ve already mentioned several of our newest titles. There are several others, as well. Each of these will be shown at the ICRS Convention, and we hope you will come by our booth in order to become familiar with them:

  • Walking With God by Andrew Murray. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-474-6; $14.99.) This Pure Gold Classic combines three of Murray’s works in one book: Waiting for God, Walking With God, and Be Perfect. The theme that ties these three books together is sanctification, and so we are calling this powerful volume “The Andrew Murray Trilogy on Sanctification.”
  • 101 of the Dumbest Things People Have Done by Ray Comfort. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-555-2; mass-market paperback; $5.99.) This is a truly funny book that will grab the reader’s attention. However, at the end of the book the reader will be confronted with a strong challenge in the form of an evangelistic appeal that will demand a response. This little book will be a great tool for soul winners to use.
  • The Fear Factor by Akeem Shomade. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-501-9; $14.99.) Based on 1 John 4:18, this teaching book reveals the sources of fear in our lives and how to overcome it through the love of God. The author is a pastor in London who has learned how to deal with fear in his own life, for he was reared in a Muslim home in Nigeria and, when he became a Christian, he had to face fear of rejection and persecution every day. This is an extremely helpful book for anyone who deals with fear, anxiety, or worry in any form.
  • Women of Faith by Donna Kafer. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-478-4; $12.99) This is the second book in our Gardens of Grace series—books on valiant women who have become Christian leaders through the centuries. Donna’s first book, Women of Courage, has sold very well in women’s groups, and this book promises to become a bestseller, as well. The particular Women of Faith that Donna writes about in her newest book include: Mary, the mother of Jesus; Susannah Wesley; Catherine Booth; Hannah More; and many others. This is a great gift book for Mother’s Day, Christmas, and all other important occasions.
  • Preparing Yourself for God’s Promises by M. Denise Baccus. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-476-0; $12.99.) Based on the Book of Jeremiah, Denise Baccus shows the reader how to believe and receive all God’s promises, which are yes and amen in Christ Jesus. (See 2 Corinthians 1:20.) This book will lead you to prepare for the best and expect the best.
  • Manhood—Navigating the Mind Fields by Peter O. Pritchard. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-479-1; $11.99) This is the best book I know of to help men overcome lust and sexual temptations in their lives. A thirty-one-day devotional, this book leads men to a new understanding of God’s plan for their lives and how His power is available to them, as they resist all temptations. (See 1 Corinthians 10:13.)

Autumn Releases

To whet your appetite for the books we will be bringing out this fall, I will simply list the titles, their authors, and sales information below:

  • The God of the Mountain by Penny Cox Caldwell. Based on years of research and exploration, this book reveals the location of the real Mount Sinai. This is a truly fascinating book. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-605-4; $19.99.)
  • Ten People You Meet at Christmas by Father Jose Pulickal. This is a wonderful Christmas book that follows the lives of ten key people who were a part of the original Christmas story and what we can learn for our own lives from them. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-646-7; $13.99)
  • Comfort Food by Ray Comfort. This is not a cookbook, but it does provide nutritional food for the soul. Devotional format, good teaching, anecdotes that are both serious and humorous, and sound Christian doctrine. Another great evangelistic tool by Ray Comfort. (ISBN: 978-0-88270-528-8; $11.99)
  • Building a House of Prayer by Joshua Young-Gi Hong. (Please see the description of this book under the section of this newsletter that is entitled “Congratulations, Dr. Cho!”

Onward and Upward!

In these times of the world's economic instability, it is so important for us to keep our eyes fixed on the One who is our source of everything, the One who has already blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. (See Ephesians 1:3.) Isaiah said, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you” (Isaiah 26:3).

God has given us an important work to do in these end times, and it is such a privilege to serve Him in the ministry of Christian literature. Now, more than ever, it is vital for us to keep our focus on Him, for this truly is the source of inward peace. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

As we busily prepare for the ICRS Convention, we are blessed to be able to enjoy the deep sense of peace that God has given to us. We pray that you are experiencing that same peace—perfect peace—in the important work you do.

Hope to see you soon!

Magnificent blessings to you and yours,

Lloyd B. Hildebrand
