April 2009 Bridge-Logos Newsletter

Dear Friend:

Warm spring greetings to you and yours! It’s a beautiful time of year here in northern Florida. Flowers are blooming everywhere and the temperatures are quite pleasant. I hope spring has come to your area, too—that is, if you live in the Northern Hemisphere.

As you know, it has been quite awhile since you have received the Bridge-Logos newsletter. Please forgive me for this inordinate delay. As you will see in the sections that follow, our company has been extremely busy. That, of course, is a very good thing.  worldview

Bridge-Logos Foundation

We have been in transition again, and the result is that Bridge-Logos is now a not-for-profit ministry/foundation rather than a for-profit company. This means that we will be focusing on distributing Christian literature to needy areas around the world. We hope, for example, to send books and Bibles to struggling pastors and missionaries in underprivileged regions of the globe. We will also be providing prisoners with free books and Bibles.

We seek your prayer support with regard to this new ministry. Please feel free to let us know of any groups or individuals that would benefit from these services. Over the next few months we will share with you how you can participate in this ministry if you so desire.

A New Book I’m Writing

In a few weeks we’ll be announcing the new book that I’ve been working on for several months. It deals with fascinating subject matter that I’ve spent many hours researching. Please be on the lookout for this new book, which will be released in time for the Denver ICRS Convention in July. In fact, I hope I’ll see you there, and I will be happy to give you a signed copy of my book, as long as supplies last.

Some Recently Published Titles

We have several new titles in our Alachua warehouse. They are:

  • God’s Tsunami by Peter Tsukahira, who is the pastor of a church atop Mount Carmel in Jerusalem. Peter’s intriguing book reveals God’s end-time plans for Israel, and it shows how God’s Tsunami—a revival wave of His glory—is sweeping the Earth. This is a must-read for everyone who loves and prays for Israel. (Trade-size paperback; $14.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-984-0.)
  • Heaven Tours—Astonishing Journeys by Rita Bennett, co-author with her husband, Dennis, of the best-selling The Holy Spirit and You. This book provides the reader with glimpses into glory by recounting the tales of people who have died, gone to Heaven, and come back to Earth. It also includes near-death experiences. Want to know what Heaven is like? This book is for you. (Trade-size paperback; $13.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-597-2.)
  • My True Reflection by Leigh-Ann Brisbin. This is a very practical and sensitively written book for people who struggle with eating disorders and those who try to help them. Leigh-Ann shows how true freedom from eating disorders is available. Leigh-Ann was a victim of eating disorders herself until she found lasting deliverance through Jesus Christ. (Trade-size paperback; $14.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-588-0.)
  • Building Your Financial Fortress in 52 Days by Kevin Cross, CPA. This practical book is based on the lessons of Nehemiah, and it offers solid hope and real ways to deal with financial struggles in the difficult economy of today. Rebuild the walls of your financial fortress one day at a time, and in fifty-two days you will have vital answers to the dilemmas you face. (Trade-size paperback; $14.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-643-6.)
  • My Anchor Holds—The Difference Jesus Makes by Gloria Cassity Stargel, author of The Healing—One Family’s Victorious Struggle With Cancer. Gloria writes with great passion as she shares the stories of people who have found answers to their problems through Jesus Christ. She is a wonderful writer and tells these stories in a most compelling manner. You will be greatly inspired as you read about Bill Gaither, Colonel Ben Purcell, Larry Burkett, Karen Peck, and so many others. (Trade-size paperback; $14.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-612-2.)
  • Islam & Christianity—A Revealing Contrast by James F. Gauss, PhD. This is a monumental work that contrasts the teachings, motives, and principles of Islam with Christianity. A true eye-opener, this book will provide you with the answers you need to understand Islam and to witness to Muslims. James Gauss pulls no punches as he shares behind-the-scenes information to help us understand what is going on in our world today. This book is a clarion call to action and prayer. (Trade-size paperback; $15.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-611-5.)
  • The End of All Things Is at Hand—Are You Ready? by Dr. Richard Booker. The author avoids the sensational in this book and goes right to the heart of the matter by explaining end-times prophecy and current and future events from a biblical (Hebraic) worldview rather than a traditional Western worldview. As you will see, this makes a great deal of difference. Dr. Booker enables you to know and embrace the future with steadfast faith and trust in God. (Trade-size paperback; $15.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-615-3.)
  • The Amazing Works of John Newton. This is the newest in our line of Pure Gold Classics. It presents various works by John Newton, the author of “Amazing Grace,” in up-to-date English. Newton’s writings include his autobiography, Out of the Depths, letters of encouragement, pastoral letters from Olney, sermons that are based on Handel’s “Messiah,” and selected Olney hymns. This is a very inspiring work. Free audio-excerpts CD included. (Trade-size paperback: $14.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-809-6.)

Two New Novels

Bridge-Logos is entering the biblical fiction market with two new novels:

  • Alabastron—a Story of Mary Magdalene by five-time published author Judith Goulding. This romantic work is beautifully written, and it enables the reader to understand Mary Magdalene and Simon the Zealot in a new and very human light. You will identify with Mary and Simon as they go through the struggles of finding faith in a dark world. (Trade-size paperback; $16.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-983-3.)
  • David—the Warrior King by David Ferreira. This dynamic book brings the story of one of the best-known personalities in the Bible vividly to life. It explores the years between David’s anointing as the future King of Israel and the day he was actually crowned king. This book allows the reader to envision ancient Israel as it really was and to discover the heart of David. You will learn how David, the warrior, came to know the face of God and to be called a man after God’s own heart. (Trade-size paperback; $16.99; ISBN: 978-088-270-929-1.)

A New Website

Bridge-Logos Foundation is currently developing a new website, which will be up and running in the near future. The website will have a variety of features, such as book trailers, interviews with authors, downloadable CDs, and live radio broadcasts. We will appreciate your letting us know what you think of it, and how you think we might improve it.

“We’re Talking Books”

Starting April 23rd, I will be hosting a live radio broadcast each Thursday afternoon at 2:00 EDT. During these half-hour shows I will be interviewing our authors about their books. The following authors have agreed to participate thus far: Ray Comfort, Gloria Stargel, Leigh-Ann Brisbin, Kevin Cross, James Gauss, Rita Bennett, David Ferreira, Judith Goulding, and Peter Tsukahira. I am looking forward to talking to each of these special people about their books, and we will keep an updated schedule on the website for you. We will also email you each Thursday morning with a reminder of the interview for that day, and a link to the radio show.

Upcoming Releases

In the next few weeks prior to the ICRS show in Denver, we will be working hard to publish several new titles. We feel that this is a particularly strong list of books that will bring glory to God and minister to His people everywhere. The soon-to-be-released titles are:

  • Let It Rise—A Manual for Worship by Holland Davis, the well-known worship leader who wrote the song “Let It Rise,” which was popularized by Big Daddy Weave,  This book leads readers to worship in spirit and truth, and this vital information is presented in a lively and exciting manner. (Trade-size paperback; $13.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-982-6.)
  • The Day the Dollar Dies by Willard Cantelon. This very timely book is an updated re-release of a Logos classic from the seventies in which Mr. Cantelon prophesies about the death of the dollar. We are living in a time when it certainly appears that his predictions are being fulfilled. You will be fascinated by his insights into both the past and the future. (Trade-size paperback; $13.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-969-7.)
  • Help for the Laid Off by Mary A. Kaarto. This is another timely book that deals with a very crucial problem of our times. The current unemployment rate in America is 8.5%, and many believe it will rise to 10% in the not-too-distant future. In this practical book, Ms Kaarto, who has been laid off twice herself, gives pointers on how to rise above the situation, be proactive, and to prepare for the next opportunity. She puts the emphasis on thriving, not just surviving. (Trade-size paperback; $12.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-989-5.)
  • Encounter: Face to Face With Jesus by Skip Heitzig, the pastor of a large church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In this unique book you will discover what happens when people from all backgrounds come face to face with Jesus. This will enable you to know Jesus in a new dimension yourself and to experience the “faith-lift” that comes to those who remain open to the Lord. (Trade-size paperback; $13.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-978-9.)
  • Torrey on Prayer by R.A. Torrey. This thrilling book will be this summer’s contribution to our very popular Pure Gold Series. Torrey’s writings on prayer reveal the power that every believer can appropriate through prayer. Prayer is an important ministry that every believer can engage in, though many tend to put it to the side too often. If you want to learn how to pray with power, let Torrey teach you. Every page of this book is filled with nuggets of truth. (Trade-size paperback; $14.99; ISBN: 978-0-88270-942-0.)
  • The book I am writing. I will let you know its title and its subject in our next newsletter. Be assured of one thing: it is timely and intriguing.

Now that I’ve caught you up on some of the developments that have taken place here at Bridge-Logos in recent months, please feel free to email me if you have any questions or comments. I'm always eager to hear from you.
