Dear Friend:
William R. Inge wrote, “No Christian can be a pessimist, for
Christianity is a system of radical optimism.” Though we’re
living in an age of great pessimism and negativity, it
behooves each of us, as believers, to take our stand upon
the promises of God. Paul wrote, “For no matter how many
promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so
through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.
Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in
Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and
put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what
is to come” (2 Corinthians 1:20-22, NIV). There is every
reason for us to hope. We are God’s own children, and He
loves us with an everlasting love. He has already blessed us
with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ
Jesus. (See Ephesians 1:3.) Let me encourage you not to
listen to the negativity and pessimism that swirls around
us. Though we are in the world, we are not of it.
As children of the living God, may we never forget these
words, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly
above all that we ask or think, according to the power that
worketh in us. Unto him be glory in the church by Christ
Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen”
(Ephesians 3:20). Empowered 21
Steve Becker and I went to Tulsa, Oklahoma, during the
second week of April to present our books to the people who
gathered for “Empowered 21.” It was good to establish new
contacts, strengthen old relationships, and receive power
from on high.
 Our
dear friend Rita Bennett, the widow of Dennis Bennett,
co-author of the bestseller
The Holy Spirit and You, and author of
You Can Be Emotionally Free and
Heaven Tours, was there, as well. I am so pleased
that the conference honored Rita and her husband, Dennis, as
prime movers in the Charismatic Renewal. Many regard our
book,
Nine O’clock in the Morning by Dennis Bennett, as
the book that helped to launch the renewal when it was
published by Logos International in 1970. This book still
sells strongly for us, I’m happy to report. One of the
leaders of “Empowered 21” was Jack Hayford, who is also one
of our authors. His book,
Prayer Is Invading the Impossible, is still regarded
as one of the most important books on prayer ever published.
Grant
McClung is another one of our authors who was at “Empowered
21.” He wrote,
Azusa Street and Beyond, a compilation of essays by
those who helped shape the modern-day Pentecostal Movement.
It was good to renew our fellowship with these outstanding
authors and to be a part of the wonderful worship services
that took place in the Mabee Center of Oral Roberts
University. “We’re Talking Books”
“We’re Talking Books” airs each Thursday at 2:00 EDT on

 On
Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 2:00, I will be interviewing M.
Denise Baccus, author of
Preparing Yourself for God’s Promises, which is a
wonderful, faith-filled, book that examines Jeremiah 29,
which tells us: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward
you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to
give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). I am looking
forward to this very positive interview with a very positive
lady.
 On
Thursday, May 20, 2010, I will be chatting with Adam
Mersereau, author of our new book,
Uncivil Society, which deals with government’s war
against God and the plight of the Christian citizen. This
should prove to be a fascinating interview in light of all
that’s happening in society today. We will discuss a variety
of subjects, including the biblical purposes of government,
what the Church should do, and what each of us should be
doing.
 On
Thursday, May 27, 2010, my guest will be Penny Cox Caldwell,
the author of
The God of the Mountain. Her unique and interesting
book deals with the true story behind discoveries that have
recently been made related to the real Mount Sinai. You will
find Penny’s story to be both a true revelation and a
spiritual journey to the mountain of God and the God of the
mountain. Meet Elizabeth Nason
You
are already familiar with Elizabeth Nason as a result of
seeing the covers of our books and various advertisements,
for she is the Art Director of Bridge-Logos Foundation, and
she has served in that capacity since 2004. “This job was
made for me!” That’s what Elizabeth said when she saw an ad
for a graphic designer at a Christian publishing firm in
Gainesville, Florida (Bridge-Logos). Though she knew it was
for her, it was not until two years later that she received
the call to this ministry, which she regards as the
fulfillment of a lifetime of preparation. Elizabeth was
born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She studied fine art at
the University of Georgia before relocating to Gainesville,
Florida. Working at an engineering firm, she met and married
Garrison Nason in 1971. Since then, the couple has lived
through many adventures of faith. They pastored a church for
five years and continue to teach Bible studies twice a week.
They pioneered the home-school movement in the Gainesville
area and ran a graphic-design firm for fourteen years.
(Garrison continues the work with graphics and sometimes
helps with Bridge-Logos projects.) They have six grown
children, five of whom were born at home. With her
knowledge of the Word of God and her experience in both
technical and creative graphics, Elizabeth is well-suited to
be the Art Director of Bridge-Logos Foundation. She designs
the text layout and the covers for most of our books, as
well as creating ads, catalogs, and other marketing
materials. We are extremely grateful for her hard work and
multiple talents, and we thank God that He brought Elizabeth
to us. Featured Authors
The April issue of Charisma magazine prominently featured
three of our best-selling authors: Dennis and Rita Bennett,
and Jack Hayford. A picture of Dennis Bennett, author of
Nine O’Clock in the Morning and co-author with his
wife, Rita, of
The Holy Spirit and You, headed an article entitled,
“Charismatic Renewal Marks 50 Years.” In fact, April 3
marked the golden anniversary of the day Dennis Bennett told
his church that he had experienced a “personal Pentecost.”
Soon thereafter, his story was told in Time and Newsweek
magazines, and the fires of renewal began to spread around
the world. A full article by Dennis Bennett, entitled,
“God’s Strength for This Generation” was also included in
the April issue of Charisma. It was originally written
twenty years ago—a pioneer’s message on our need for the
Holy Spirit’s power, and just as relevant to us today as it
was two decades ago. Jack Hayford, author of
Prayer Is Invading the Impossible, wrote a segment
entitled, “Live Life ‘in Front of Jesus.’” We greatly
respect Jack Hayford and his important leadership within the
Body of Christ. Author
Appearances
Leigh-Ann Brisbin, author of My
True Reflection: Freedom From Eating Disorders, will be
interviewed on American Family Radio on May 5 at 10:00 A.M.
Her outstanding book was also nominated for the Retailers’
Choice Awards for 2010.
Darek Isaacs, author of
The
Extinction of Evolution and the soon-to-be-released
Dragons
or Dinosaurs?—Creation or Evolution? will be speaking at
Grace Bible Church in Rainbow City, Alabama, on May 30 and
June 6. We congratulate Darek on his imminent graduation
from Liberty University with his Masters in Theological
Studies degree. A Concluding
Thought One of our authors, David duPlessis,
who was known as “Mr. Pentecost,” said, “God has no
grandchildren.” This is so very true. Each of us must come
to know the Lord for ourselves, and we are so grateful that
our books have helped hundreds of thousands of people to
know Him, for Jesus said, “this is life eternal, that they
might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom
thou hast sent” (John 17:3). It’s true that every person
we meet either needs to know Jesus or to know Him better,
and that’s what this ministry is all about—helping people to
know Jesus and to know Him better. Paul wrote, “That I may
know him, and the power of his resurrection” (Philippians
3:10). Brethren, please pray for us, that this vital
ministry of Christian literature will continue to help
people know the Lord. Lloyd B. Hildebrand
